Penang airport to town: bas Rapid Penang, e-hailing pick-up and taxis

Which Rapid Penang bus routes stop at Penang International Airport and where each one goes, where Grab picks you up, and a warning about unlicensed airport rides.

Four Rapid Penang bus routes stop at Penang International Airport: 401E and 401 run to Komtar and the Weld Quay ferry terminal in George Town, 102 runs through Komtar and Gurney to Batu Feringghi and Teluk Bahang, and 306 runs past Queensbay Mall to Hospital Pulau Pinang. For a ride, Grab gives its pick-up point as the E-Hailing Pickup Point on Level 1 of the multilevel car park.

Buses from the airport

Rapid Penang publishes its timetable as open data on data.gov.my, Malaysia's official open data portal. In that file, these routes stop at the airport stop, (M1) Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Pulau Pinang:

Grab and e-hailing

Grab's own airport page lists one pick-up point for Penang International Airport arrivals: Penang International Airport - Level 1-Multilevel Car Park E-Hailing Pickup Point. You book in the app, check the pick-up location, and follow the in-app directions to meet the driver.

Taxis

Malaysia Airports says airport taxis use a coupon system, with fixed charges by destination; buy the coupon at the counter on Level 1, Arrival Concourse. Its page gives no fare table.

Use a licensed ride, as published in 2023. In March 2023, Utusan Malaysia reported that JPJ Penang had arrested drivers at the airport who approached passengers and offered car hire without a licence. JPJ said this was an offence under section 16 of the APAD Act 2010 (no operator licence).
