What aircon servicing costs in Penang
A general service costs RM50 to RM130 per wall unit and a chemical wash RM100 to RM200, as Penang aircon businesses publish them. Prices for a gas refill and fitting a new unit, what pushes the price up, and what to ask before you book.
The short version
Penang aircon businesses that publish their prices list a general service at RM50 to RM130 per wall unit, and a chemical wash at RM100 to RM200 per wall unit, as read on their own websites on 14 October 2026. A full chemical overhaul is listed at RM200 to RM400, and labour to fit a new 1.0 HP wall unit at RM250 to RM390.
- Booking several units at once usually lowers the price per unit.
- Ceiling, cassette and inverter units cost more than a standard wall unit.
- For a new unit, extra copper piping and hidden (concealed) piping add to the bill.
- Prices move, so treat these as a guide to what is normal.

Prices by business:
- General service: Ban Leng says a basic general service starts from around RM50. Zarina lists RM60 to RM80 for a standard unit. Airflow lists RM80 a unit for 4 or more units and RM90 for 1 to 3. Encik Aircond lists RM99 a unit for 4 or more units and RM130 for 1 to 3.
- Chemical wash: Airflow lists RM100 (4 or more units) and RM135 (1 to 3). Zarina lists RM150 to RM180 for a standard unit. PG1 lists RM150 to RM200 for a 1.0 HP to 1.5 HP wall unit.
- Chemical overhaul: Encik Aircond from RM200. Airflow RM215 (4 or more units) and RM249 (1 to 3). PG1 RM250 to RM350. Zarina RM300 to RM400.
- Gas refill: Zarina RM80 to RM150 (R410A or R22). Encik Aircond from RM80. Airflow charges RM2.00 per PSI, or a flat RM185 for leak detection, sealing and a full refill. Only Airflow's per-PSI rate covers R32, so no flat refill price for an R32 unit is listed.
- Fitting a 1.0 HP wall unit: Airflow RM250. PG1 from RM350. Zarina from RM350 (labour only, any size). Encik Aircond from RM380 (any size). Ban Leng RM390 for a standard installation.
- Repair: PG1 from RM80 for simple fixes such as drain clearing. Airflow from RM80. Zarina RM80 to RM200 for diagnosis.

What pushes the price up
- Fewer units. Airflow and Encik Aircond both charge less per unit when you book 4 or more.
- Unit type. Zarina charges more for inverter and ceiling units. Airflow lists a cassette (ceiling) unit chemical wash at RM250 to RM295, against RM100 to RM135 for a wall unit.
- Horsepower. Ban Leng's standard installation price rises from RM390 for 1 HP to RM610 for 2.5 HP and 3 HP. PG1 lists RM450 to RM800 for 1.5 HP to 2.5 HP units.
- Piping. Ban Leng charges RM18 to RM25 per extra foot of piping, by horsepower. PG1 says concealed piping in a renovation adds RM200 to RM500.
- Site and access. Ban Leng says its listed installation prices are for low-risk jobs, and the final price can change with layout, access and site requirements.

What to ask before you book
- Is the price per unit, and is there a rate for several units? Airflow and Encik Aircond publish lower per-unit prices for 4 or more units.
- Which gas does my unit use? PG1 says newer split units mostly use R32 and older ones R410a, and its technician confirms which before adding any. Zarina's published gas price covers R410A and R22.
- Will you look for a leak before adding gas? PG1 says gas does not get used up, so a unit that is low has leaked. Zarina says leaks are "checked first". Airflow prices leak detection and refill as one job.
- For a new unit: how much piping is included, and what does each extra foot cost? Ban Leng publishes a per-foot rate for extra piping.
- Will I get the price before work starts? Zarina, Airflow and PG1 all say they quote before starting.
- Is a call-out or transport charge included? Airflow says it charges no call-out fee; ask the others whether their prices include one.

Red flags
- Gas added with no leak check. In PG1's words, adding gas without finding the leak "just means you are back to warm air in a few months and paying for gas twice".
- No price before the work starts. Zarina, Airflow and PG1 all say they give a price before any work. A technician who will not leaves you nothing to hold them to.
If the job goes wrong
The Tribunal for Consumer Claims (TTPM) hears claims about goods and services under the Consumer Protection Act (Act 599). The claim must be for RM50,000 or less and arise within 3 years. The filing fee is RM5.00. Keep the quote and receipt.
