Remember well attending the Pesta Pinang in this area in 1972

Yes Jim, the Pesta started here but later they decided to go big time and moved to their own specially built complex in Sungei Nibong. Bon Odori (the Japanese festival) is still held here every year. Sometimes the armed forces have exhibitions or recruitment exercises on the field. Chingay displays are also held there.

As a child, I was on this field watching the Queen's Birthday Parade in 1956 (my Dad commanded the parade). I think also the first Merdaka Day celebrations were held here.
