This pic is specially for Aussie Pete. Hi Pete, I managed to snap this photo when the sentry was nowhere to be seen. The gate was wide open and so I drove in, took this pic and left before the M16 could be pointed at me.

Thanks, kayes, glad you didn't locked up!. As kids we used to spend a lot of time on the other side of Runnymeade under the trees. It was a great place to watch the dragon boats as well. On the beach front we used to go through the flotsum and jetsum, collecting pottery shards and marjong pieces (apparently from freighters destroyed by the Japanese during WW2).

Hi kayes, each time I look at this photo it brings back memories. Last one was me in short pants with pet monkey on my shoulder! BTW, any idea how I can find out details of my old school, presumeably now Wellesley?

Hi kayes, wow, two years have flown by! I came across Penangtalk again tonight (my username and password still work too). Hope all is well with you. Wondering if anything has happened to the old Runny yet and are you able to help me with Wellesley?

hello Peter, long time no see. The old Runny is the same. Abandoned by the army but there is still a lone sentry there armed with a M16. Did the floods affect you?

Hi Kayes, Found this thread as well, thanks for keeping it there. Any improvements planned for the old lady? Also is it possible to update me on Wellesley? Regards, Peter

Hi Kayes, All the best for the Festive Season. I hope to be treading the streets of the Pearl of the Orient in May next year. Also wrestling the froth off a few Tigers while watching the sunset on the beach at the Golden Sands. Watch out for the mad Aussie!
