Hi Kayes, what are the chances of you taking a picture of the house that I lived in as a young lad from 1968 to 1970?
I lived there along with my Parents Steve and maria Ryan as well as my brothers Wayne and Robert and sister Joanne.
Thank you for this wonderful oppertunity. We will be in Penang tomorrow 2 sep 2008.
Regards, John Ryan

My wife Linda and myself are returning to Penang 24 August 09 and would like to be in touch with Camala Suppiah formaly of 703-F Mount Erskine Penang.
Camala's daughter is M.S. Chandra Devi and married Mr S.K. Gopal 15 March 1981.
We would love to catch up with the family at some time during our holiday from Australia. Please help us locate this lovely family.
Thank you Kayes,
John Ryan

hi John, I asked a couple of guys at the club but no bells were rung Smile I have a suspicion that Sam (of Sam Book Store) might know. I will try to get to his shop in Chulia Street soon.

Hi kayes,

My wife (Maya) and I have been to Penang several times since 1999.
We fell in love with Batu Ferringhi and always stay at the Golden Sands. We were last there in Nov/Dec 2007 and the hotel was going to start their remodeling soon. My question is, have they enclosed the breakfast restaurant or left it open and fresh air?

Thanks, Donald

hi Donald & welcome to Penang Talk Smile I have not eaten at the Golden Sands since they started renovation works. I will take a look the next time I run on the beach and let you know. Hope to read more of your posts here.

Good morning Kayes from Australia. I gather you have had no luck finding any information with Camala Suppiah formaly of 703-F Mount Erskine Penang.
My wife and I will be back in Penang next week, arriving Monday and leaving Saturday for Langkawi.
I hope to hear from you soon with good news.
Kind regards,
John ;]

Hi kayes. Do you know of the WW2 I assume observation post buildings up on Pearl Hill. A friend at the hotel drove me up there last evening for a look around. They cannot be seen from any road or footpath and you have to climb deep into the foilage of the jungle to find them. I have scoured the internet reating to WW2 abd Pearl Hill and cannot find any referanve to them. They seem to age around the same time as the War Museum at Batu Muang but am finding it diffucult to pinpoint ant referances to the site.

Hi Kayes. A shame I have only just discovered the site as I was in Penang two weeks ago as part of a RAAF School reunion contingent. Coincidently, I too lived in Jalan Azyze (N0 26) at the same time John did (1st post) and was in the same class as his brother, Wayne.
In reference to the bunkers at Pearl Hill (derrickab), I have recently written to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to ascertain the history of the site and if they can assist in preserving the site.
