The coffee shop on the corner diametrically opposite this one used to serve the most fantastic laksa. One could specify it to be either assam or lemak. I loved it half-half. In about 1990 the man selling it left the shop and amazingly could be seen pushing a hawker stall around Hillside selling laksa. When I was last back in Jan 2008 he was back in the shop.

Pic from hypy. This stall is just to the right of the pic above. Thanks hypy!

Love to eat Mutu Mayam but didn't know they are steamed over bamboo sieve until I saw it for the first time when I was in Penang. All the Mutu Mayam sold in Ipoh and KL are pre-cooked unlike those in Penang, they are being steamed over bamboo sieves - even by the road-side. Thanks hypy for sharing this interesting pic.!

Kayes, you are truly "son of the soil of Penang"-placing this putu mayam stall exactly in the right spot!
Hello Orange, thank you for the opportunity to get "acquainted" at Penang Talk. Credit must go to Kayes for hosting this pix & also this stall holder for graciously lifting the lid again for this shot. He must know Kayes well enough that this pix will be featured in Penang Talk....

It's nice to meet you here at Penang Talk too, hypy! Smile It's true that it takes someone like Kayes who knows Penang at the back of his hand to capture fabulous pics. of Pearl of the Orient esp. those spectacular sun-rise and sun-set pics. Thank you and Kudos to Kayes!
