This is a great place to taste the delights of Penang, not too big and inpersonel. The hostess is warm and friendly, loves a chat.
We will be eating here again next week and looking very much forward to it. I can smell the delights and fragrences even here in OZ.

This place has lasted for a long time. I used to eat there in the 70s and the food was good. I wonder whether it has been the same owners from the 70s till now.

I also have fond memories of The Happy Garden. When staying in Batu I'd get up in the morning, go buy The Star and go here for breakfast. It was lovely to sit there surrounded by such a nice garden.

Great food, good prices and charming people.

daphne,

Its at the top of the road. If you were staying at Park Royal you would come out of the resort, turn right on the main road, its on the left further up. Easy walking distance and as you can see from Kayes photograph, its hard to miss, its set back off the road.

Hi Kayes, The outlook from the 'Happy Garden' will change dramatically over the next few months. The owner of the land opposite from the new mosque down to the Bank Negara, next to the old Casuarina, wants to develop all that land and all the shops and and eating places have been given notice to quit. So delightful places like 'The Boatman' will all have to find new premises.
