I once waited so long to be served a beer at my table that I used a hand phone to call the manager and asked him to send a waiter to take my order. I always found the original Ship in "Hutton Lane"???? to give better food and service.

Poor service should not be tolerated. There are many eateries out there that want your business. Try walking out the next time and see whether the waiter comes running after you.

In all my 20 years of coming to Penang we have only been in the 'Ship' once. As they boast 2 "The best Steak in Penang" I can get a better steal meal at the 'Boatman' at the other end on BF

Hi Alan Just returned after 3 months+ 1week, from Penang, and no the 'Boatman' has been ressurected. If you look at where the Boatman used to be, there was a small alleyway at the side, well Sue and Hawk have purchased what used to be a shop and opened up a new even larger Boatman. Same people with Annie running around, Sue still works at the "Hard Rock" but all else is the same, best fried rice in BF.

Hi Derrick we have also just back from Penang and was suprised to see the boatman open .
Had breakfast there a couple of times and one night dinner out the front , did not want to chance it more because of weather , hard to access the rear where the seating is under cover , because of steps and the small alley not wide enough for wheelchair .
Seemed strange to look over the road and see Navins when it used to be next door .

Hello Alan, Great you found the 'Boatman' alright, could'nt really miss it if you have been before. Still a great place to eat and great food shame Sue is not there but I think Hawk relies on her wages from the "Hard Rock" to help pay the mortgage. We spent just over three months in Penang, at the Paradise in Tanjong Bungha and I would say we only went down to BF 6 or 7 times. I think Bf has lost a lot of it's charm, not the same stallholders any more, they are all foreigners now. Don't get me wrong there is a lot more to Penang than Batu Ferringhi.
