I have been wanting to eat at this oldest restaurant in Penang after its extensive restoration/renovations but never found the time until last night. As a young child I can remember I followed my parents to eat there whenever we visited Penang from Ipoh. In the 70s after I moved to Penang with my family, we continued to eat there now and then. I liked sitting on the balcony and watching the busy traffic below go by. The place is now fully air-conditioned except for the balcony. Pics were taken from the balcony looking down on Burmah Road.

The interior now looks quite different from the old traditional Chinese restaurant but I am quite sure the floor tiles are original and so are the stairs' bannisters.

I like these pics hanging on the wall. Of course, smoking was really cool back then and just dangling a cig in your mouth could get you the gals :-) The curry puff hairstyle was also very much in fashion.

For your coffee and dessert, there is a small "kopitiam" downstairs which belongs to the same owners.

Looks great. Many good renovations in Georgetown. It sat there for a long time looking rundown but now everyone taking the overpass can see it.
