Today (25 April 2011) is a historical day of sorts because it is the first day the new train is open to the public. I was there early this morning to witness the event.

Wooden seats but they won't hurt your backsides since it is only a 10 minute ride each way.

Thanks Kayes for those interesting pics. To me, the new train looks futuristic. So glad to know the train is air-conditioned and there is a new car park. Used to have parking problem when we were there the last time.

A newspaper reported that on Sunday, 1 May 2011, 10,000 people turned up to take the new Penang Hill train. Most of them probably thought that since the new train is much faster and could accommodate more passengers per trip, getting on the train would be a breeze ..... but they thought wrong...... the Penang Hill Railway just cannot handle 10,000 passengers a day without most of them having to queue in the hot sun for hours Sad Pic below was not taken on Sunday.

Penang Hill is always a great tourist attraction. With the new train and long holidays, crowd like this is somehow expected. Wondering if the new multi level car park is ready to be utilised.

hi Orange, the parking attendant told me the 4-storey carpark is still not ready. It is waiting for OC to be issued.

So it's all about timing, Kayes. Sad Perhaps those cars parked along the pavement want to be branded as "PIONEERS". CF is for building only, not for the surrounding area I suppose. Smile

Since the tour guide is nowhere to be seen, those stray dogs decided to tour Penang Hill on their own. Smile

Beautiful "Henna" Tattoo from Penang Hill .....

The Hand Tattoo I had during my visit to Penang Hill was just lovely. I am still keeping the pic. of the "Henna" Tattoo on my hand which I took immediately after the "Henna" Tattoo. I was told by the lady who did the "Henna" Tattoo that the tattoo could last more than 10 days. But alas, the tattoo she did on my hand lasted less than 10 hours. Initially, I felt very suspicious when I saw the "Henna" Tattoo was black in colour while through my own understanding all Henna are brown. Since she promised the Tattoo could last more than 10 days, I paid RM15 for the "Henna" Tattoo. I felt cheated! The only consolation I got was the Tattoo design was very lovely and I have taken a pic. of the beautiful design. Attracted by the cheap price and the beautiful tattoo design cover almost the entire hand. With this price, we could only get a tiny tattoo design in KL. There were many female Arabs did the "Henna" Tattoo from that stall (a couple) in Penang Hill.

Parking lots are limited and wondering why the 4-storey carpark is still not to be utilised. We did ask the guard at the entrance where could we park our car, he told us anywhere would do. But when we asked what if summons were being issued for illegal parking. He replied: "Sometimes they come, sometimes they don't". Hmmmm

Now that the car park at the foot of Penang Hill is under construction, wondering if there is sufficient parking while waiting for it to be ready or do we have to take public transport/hotel shuttle service when vising Penang Hill?
