Built on reclaimed land in Tanjong Tokong, this promises to be the next happening place in Penang. Built by the same people who own the E&O Hotel, this complex comprising of shops and apartments looks like an extension of the venerable hotel. I like what they have done here and it is near where I live Smile

I love this promenade by the sea. Sure beats Gurney Drive. Constant sea breeze.

Wow!! The progress is fantastic! When we passed by this area at the beginning of this year, the place was still under construction. Amazing!!

Straits Quay looks magnificent and full of grandeur. The main entrance has some resemblances to the E&O Hotel. Beautiful pics. Thanks for sharing, Kayes!!

The five beauties posed for another camera but this professional photographer captured them first. Quick, fast and skillful!!

Hi Kayes, watched a film here in the UK last night called 50-50. I recognised the location as the Padang at Fort Cornwallis, do you remember it being filmed there ?

Love the Cendol from Pappa Rich. Many shops were not opened yet. After driving passed those unoccupied newly completed link houses with colonial design, we wanted to make a U-turn back to Jalan Tanjong Tokong, were surprised that this road actually can lead to Island Plaza. Right at the junction from Island Plaza to Jalan Tanjong Tokong, saw a very touching scene. A modern young lady with a 3-4 yrs. old clean good looking boy were burning joss paper and holding joss sticks, praying by the roadside in front of the condo. This condo is facing Island Plaza. When praying by the roadside, our elders usually do not allow kids to be around. There were no other people praying except the two of them and we believe they are mother and son. It was almost twilight. It's either she could not find someone to look after the kid, or the boy wanted to follow his mother or she wanted her son to pray together.

If you own a Lamborghini, you can drive up to your fav shop in Straits Quay. In this case, the owner of the Lambo was shopping for Versace at Versus.

Must try! Must try when in Penang next!!

The name "Breeze" sounds very familiar. Not very sure if this restaurant is the same Nyonya Breeze which is located at a "Lorong" connecting Jalan Macalister to Jalan Burma. At the beginning (or at the end since this lorong is a one way street) of this lorong, there is a stall which sells fresh young coconuts. This coconut stall attracts many customers and their young green coconuts are piled up like a small hill.

Photo frames complete with engravings from Royal Selangor is my choice whenever I need any gift to be given to friends from abroad.

The curvy figure on the last pic. must be the counter sales personnel. The silhouette is professionally and timely shot. Congrats! The reflections on the marble floor is skillfully done. With lots of glass and gloss from the marble floor, it's not easy to get a good result like this one. Brilliant! Composition is excellent! This award winning piece is the perfect pic. to promote this jewellery shop.

Initially we thought Charlie Brown loves islands only - S'pore, Penang but not KL. The recently opened Charlie Brown Cafe at KLCC tells us Charlie Brown loves going places. Smile But still Charlie Brown loves Penang more because the first outlet was at Straits Quay!

Great food, attractive deco and interesting souvenir shop!

Love Pappa Rich's dry curry noodles with fried Foo Chok and fish paste. The fried Foo Chok are crispy while the fish pastes are very fresh. The dried curry with dark soya sauce is yummy!
