This morning I went to check out the progress of the construction of the huge pavilion to house the giant Kuan Yin statue. Looks like it is on schedule to be completed by next Chinese New Year.

Awesome pics.!! Perfect lighting with clever angle. Thanks for sharing, Kayes!

Wonder if it is the final colour for this Kuan Yin Statue. Or perhaps due to the ongoing renovations and security reason, the Kuan Yin Statue will be gold coated eventually.

I wonder why they felt the beauty of this statue would be enhanced by building a pavilion over it. The structure is actually quite a distraction. I like it better when I can see it from head to toe!

You are right Blue Grass. I would prefer to see a Kuan Yin like this rather than one which is "caged".

Thanks Kayes for the lovely pics. The beautiful blue sky is the perfect foil for Kuan Yin. Truly a case of 'less is more' here.

No one is allowed to eat beef at home and the Kuan Yin cloaked in long flowing white robe stands on a lotus pedestal. The rule says "no beef to be consumed at home", but restaurants are not in the compound of the house. Smile Our elders believe every 19th day of the 2nd., 6th. & 9th lunar month are auspicious dates to purchase silver jewelleries (necklaces, anklets and bracelets) for babies to wear.

Place to be if one is in Penang during the duration of CNY. Trip to Penang will be complete without visiting Kek Lok Si. It is always brightly and beautifully illuminated during this time of the year. But many a time, you have to admire it from afar due to the huge crowd and massive jam around this area. But it's still worth the visit.

This last pic. is superb. Hopefully by praying to Kuan Yin, the clouds in the sky (in the last pic.) will be clear and fair sky will follow. Smile
