The logo for Cathay Hotel is very unique and interesting. It looks to me this hotel is given a new coat of paint. Wah Toh Hotel (I hope my translation is accurate) is obviously newer than Cathay Hotel. But then, Cathay Hotel looks more magnificent. Of course, we have to take other things into considerations - things like cleanliness; good and prompt service; well maintained fixtures and last but not least good air-conditioning.

Hi Kayes. I am doing a research on Penang for a crime documentary, looking into crime/prostitution in Penang in the 1960s/1970s. Was wondering if there are any hotels/motels that used to be famous for illegal activities? Where would you consider to be a red light district in Penang back in the 1960s/1970s?

hi Laura, I can give you a few details but first, let me know where your "crime documentary" will be shown?
