Hi Kayes, Not posted any pictures of the Queen Mary 2 yet?
oh by the way I see that the the old Australian Hostel has been demolished, do you have any pictures of it in you extensive library? All the time we spent here in the sixties and since 1990 we do not have a single picture of the building!!

Wondering if people still throw coins into the sea when boarding a ferry. We were told to do so since we were kids.

Orange,I think, that is an Old Sailors Superstition, that if you throw coins into the Sea,the Sea Owes You,and will not claim you.Until the debt is repaid. But I don't think it works that way

Though I must admit,I served under a Submarine Captain, once, and they were the Creme de le Creme, who would not allow the Chef to cook Oxtail Soup, because he believed it brought on Bad Weather and the one time the Chef Cooked it,without The Skippers knowledge,It brought on Bad Weather, real bad weather. He never cooked it again

Thank you Jim! Throwing coins into the sea while boarding a ferry is actually an old sailors' superstition. I am so happy to know that because all this while we have been told to do so without knowing the original of this belief. Thank you again, Jim!

Interesting story about those Ox Tail Soup. In fact, I have a story about Bubur Cha Cha. Will tell the story later. Smile
