In 1977 I was at the RAAF Base in Butterworth as one of the officials of the Malaysian leg of the SIA London-Sydney Rally. I wonder whether any of you ex-RAAF personnel can recognise anyone or anything in these pics.

Picture No2 shows,I beleive, a covered in parking area near the RAAF Motor Club to the North of Base Squadron Headquarters.Picture No3 shows an area I am not familiar with, the three story buildings in the background, would indicate,to my memory, that it was not on RAAF Butterworth. The RAAF Person,in uniform and wearing Cap Service Dress,is RAAF Police but I do not recognise him.Might I ask when in 1977 these photographs were taken

Now Kayes you have me thinking, photograph No3 shows a perimeter fence between the hard standing area and the buildings in the background. The only place that springs to mind is the area adjacent to the Astra Cinema, which would put the buildings to the west of Jln Mata Kuching and I don't recal such buildings. But the old cauliflower could be fading

hi Jim, I took all the photos on this thread. There were many more but I can't find them. I also gave some to the British organiser .... can't remember his name right now ...... Evans? Pics were taken in March 1977 at the RAAF Base in Butterworth.
