This is my fav "chingay photo" taken in the morning in front of City Hall. Most 'chingay processions" are held in the evenings or nights and it is most difficult to get a good "chingay pic" when the light is low and the camera speed needs to be fast. I hope the organisers of Chingay events will organise them in the daytime instead of the night.

I too love the chingay displays. How the performers don't get headaches or lose their balance defies description! Last visit I recall that the flags were festooned along the street, fastened to lamp posts near Traders Hotel. By the way, kayes, I find that I can not now download photos that I have enlarged from thumbnails (like this one outside City Hall). Others, like the children at the Butterfly Farm which you have featured with captions, there doesn't to be a problem. Is it me or has your system been changed? Regards, Peter

hi Peter, I have not adjusted the forum's software in any way and so, you should be able to download all enlarged images. Can you provide me with some details as to what you encountered so that I can look into it further?

Hi Kayes,

Previously I have been able to 'Right Click' on the photo and 'Save As' to save the photo and usually use it as my desktop background . Something has changed, because now when I do a 'Right Click' I don't get any options.
Guess I'll have to wait till April when my wife and I get there ourselves for our 'lucky' 13th visit..!

Hi Kayes,

I must confess to doing similar, in that I would 'Right Click' on Photo's and usually as 'Mannummick' as done, use it as a desktop material, with some spectacular results I may add!, I hope we are not infringing copyright, or intellectual property rights? Please explain soonest.

hi Norman & Mannummick, I suspect the upgraded version of the software that runs this board automatically prevents the "right click" but I cannot be sure. I use a Mac and I can easily drag a pic to my desktop. I will try to find out more about this.

Norman, if you download my pics to your computer, it can be said it is for "personal enjoyment" and that doesn't run foul of the law. However, if you "publish" my pics (which have secret watermarks) elsewhere, like in a website, book, magazine, postcard etc etc, then it is a breach of copyright if done without my permission.

Hi kayes, My problem is the same as experienced by Mannummick and Norman.
I am now only able to select and save (to my own file listed "Penang Talk photos") photos like the current ones on the page below, Campbell Street and St Georges Church (x3) whereas before I could do this to any of your photos.
As with the others I hope that this does not infringe copyright.
If I select and enlarge any of the thumbnails to save them, i.e. Random images - lefthand column, or Recent photos, 1 day thru to all, all I can get now is reference to the photo.
You might recall that I asked if I could use "the three sisters" as a screen saver. On your approval to do so, I downloaded that photo and am using it on my computer now. But if I was to try to download and save it today I am unable to do so.
I hope this is of help to you. Regards Peter

Hi Kayes,

Thank you for your response, I only ever used your wonderful pictures for personal self enjoyment, I am so glad you clarified the situation, I would hate to think I was not following protocols.

Peter, thanks for details. I am now looking into this matter. Downloading my pics to your computer is completely legit as it is for "personal enjoyment". Therefore to use any of my pics as a screensaver on your own computer is fine even without asking me.

Norman, you don't need to worry. You have broken no laws Smile
