Nice pics of trees in the Botanical Garden Kayes.


The first pic is of the Bauhinia kockiana, a native of our Malaysian jungle, which produces the orange and red-orange flowers.You would have seen this plant while driving up Camerons as the Bauhinia have frequent displays of the very showy flowers.


The second pic shows the slender trunks of the Sealing-wax Palm. Wouldn't you agree that the colour is somewhat similar to that red wax/paste used for Chinese seals to stamp on documents and art?


Sorry Kayes. Not quite sure about the tree in third pic. Perhaps somebody else can help.


The last pic is the Jacaranda Tree. Penang with its distinct dry season is suitable for the Jacaranda as during the dry period the leaves fall just before the flowers appear. In wetter regions the flowering may not be so profuse.

Blue Grass, you not only know how to appreciate classic/vintage cars (especially the Alfa Romeos) but I think you also have at least a Master's degree in Botany Smile
