Kayes, the Veloce is still such a beautiful car even some thirty odd years. The clean simple lines make this a timeless beauty that is also nimble and fast. The state of AL 7887 is a tribute to its owner and his mechanics who have carried out the restoration.

Yes that is a fine definition of good design.........simple and clean lines. Another way I have heard it described is that a car should look as though it were hewn from a single solid block of material. The Porsche 911s of the 1960s and 70s were good examples as they kept a simple clean shape. No over guilding of the lilly or it will look like a Juara!!!

You are right, nothing can beat the Porsche 911s for their beautiful lines and dimensions. A 911 does indeed look as though it had been curved from a solid block and I don't think we are being fanciful! The car is the epitome of beauty in simplicity.

Thanks Kayes. Always such a pleasure to look at pics of your vintage cars. I still have a soft spot, after all these years, for the MG midget and Mini Cooper S. I had a friend who owned a Cooper S and we took drives along what would now be the road to Raub/Genting. There was no Genting then of course and the road was winding and narrow. At some point we would leave the road and take a narrow road hugging the hillside right up to a country retreat. The drive in was most exhilarating as the bends were tight and close but they were never any problem for the Mini Cooper as it literally hugged the road.

Just joined this forum and amazed at the immaculate cars featured here. There seems to be a nice maroon Alfa Sprint in the background too.

hello Shan and welcome to Penang Talk Smile Are you an Alfista?

Blue Grass, as I said before, you certainly know your cars Smile I traded in my MGB in 1969 for a Morris Cooper S (twin tanks) and I can endorse what you said about this little car can do on winding roads. The present Minis are obese.

Hi Kayes. Is that what we call an Alfa enthusiast, 'Alfista'? Sounds good to me! I visited a friend this afternoon and was surprised to see a few antique cars parked around the house. [My friend calls them junk!] There is a MG Midget in running condition and a couple needing lots of work including an Austine Healey Sprite.I have asked to meet the brother whose hobby is restoring antique cars. He does the work himself and often gets friends and relatives to bring back car spare parts for him from UK!

Thanks Kayes, I was once an 'Alfista', having owned a 1980 Alfetta sedan, then a 1979 Alfetta GTV 2.0. Dad had a 1974 Alfa Berlina for a very short while too. I'm no longer into Alfas these days, but love to see these old beauties restored so lovingly.

By the way, how do you post pictures in this forum ?

Cheers.

Blue Grass, Alfista is in the singular. You, Shan and I would be referred to as the Alfisti. I attended a big Alfa Meet in Amsterdam in 1978 and there were thousands of Alfisti there.

Shan, I owned a total of 14 Alfa Romeos in the 70s and 80s, most of them bought new from City Motors. My all time favourites were the GTV6 and the Bertone GTV2000. I also liked my race tuned Berlina 2000 and the rally Alfetta 1.8. I owned three Giuliettas at the same time, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0.

You can post pics at my other Vintage/Classic Car forum which is at:-

That is impressive Kayes, would love to see pics of your previous Alfas. My all time favourite is the GTV6, although I've never owned one. Many years back, I had an opportunity to see a mint silver GTV6 in original condition at the former Yan Auto in old Klang road, PJ. The sound of the engine purring was pure bliss, very few cars come close.
