Any one in Penang knows of a good mee java store? In the good or bad old days, there was a stall at the New aorld Park, a coffee shop opposite Savoy Hotel, where I frequently had the Mee Java prepared by the then Mr. Ali, Tarzan of Penang,a Mr. Penang/Malaysia beefcake. He is retired and I read about him in the Star, living in Gelugor or south area.His mee java from can oxtail soup/tomato puree stock and fresh oxtail was something I never forget and frequented for years. In jakarta at Mulia HOtel, I ordered the Java Mee and it turned out to be just the Ramen I cook at midnight in my kitchen.... one would think Indonesians can cook the best Mee Java....but their Hainan chicken is very good though...another story is if you are in Hainan Island never order Hainan chicken because nobody knows them there, seriously!
